This is like stepping back in time a little. The whole vibe of this hotel is subtle and comfortable. It is worth staying here just for the restaurant downstairs and very comfortable beds. The staff are top notch and very friendly. When I mentioned I wasn't feeling well they let me move my reserved time to earlier in the restaurant. They had great tips and ideas for things to do, books to read and local arts to view. The view from the 4th floor of the river entrance and the town was really nice, I particularly loved having the balcony door wide open listening to the ocean and the town just living daily life.

Comfortable bed, spacious room and staff were lovely. When we came down to breakfast, the staff were trying to deal with a large group of Japanese tourists, some of whom did not see why they had to come down to breakfast at their allocated time and then decimated the buffet breakfast while other guests were trying to get food. The staff handled it very well and with great patience ( it was like herding cats) The chef brought us over croissants, as twice fresh ones had been brought out and were immediately taken by the large group. Overall a lovely stay.

Location great. Not too far to walk to train station. Evening dinner menu good, food excellent.Service was great, thanks to Mel. Plus young waiter who was also very attentive. Breakfast dissapointed. Staff need to look at replenishing food items before running out of items. Eg potato, Hash Browns butter portions etc., Otherwise breakfast was enjoysble. Heating in bedroom and hot water excellent. Plenty of towels etc.

The hotel is in the middle of the town and the room is spacious. After travelling for more than 14 days, the beds were huge and absolutely comfortable. The front desk ladies were exceptionally helpful. For those who plan to take dinner, do not look further! Order their sharing plate of Shoulder of Lamb with roasted vegetables. The meat melted in your mouth and the roasted potatoes and vegetables were yummy.

The breakfast. The only hotel I've stayed at in NZ where pre paying for breakfast got me a choice of a la carte breakfast, a juice, and a freshly made flat white. Exceptional decision. Room was large and had two comfy queen beds and a view over the Greymouth rooftops. Staff were friendly. Huge TV and I don't stay in a hotel to watch TV but it was a good TV.
